Covingsmith founder setting up curved plywood cyclorama frame during installation

300+ Cyclorama Walls Built. One Standard of Craft.

Covingsmith was co-founded by Tim Kojevnikov and Michael Chernih (founder of Cyclorama Projects), along with a team of experienced designers, manufacturers, and installers. Between them, Tim and Michael bring over half a century of construction experience and more than ten years building cycloramas specifically: over 300 walls for photo and video studios to date.

Covingsmith brings that standard of craftsmanship to the US market, headquartered in Boston, serving studios nationwide.

  • Why We Build This Way

Every method we use exists for one reason: to make the transition from wall to curve disappear completely. CNC-cut molds give us precision on long runs. 3D-printed molds let us match a corner exactly, without the tooling cost of a custom cut for a one-off shape. Fettling, trimming and smoothing each cast piece by hand, catches what machines can't. None of it is the fastest way to build a wall. It's the way that leaves no seam for a camera to find.

  • Who We Work Best With

We do our best work with people who care about the details as much as we do. Studios that know a flat coat of paint isn't the same as a true cyc. Producers who'd rather ask a hard question upfront than discover a problem mid-shoot. If that's you, we'll get along fine.
